The highlight of the concert was the premiere of Stewart Wallace's Kaddish for Harvey Milk, an extremely complex piece of near-terrifying intensity...that vividly portrays violence, horror and the deep wounding of the human spirit. Yet it is permeated with lyricism. There is an overwhelming feeling in both music and text, reflected by the uplifting quotation: "In every generation are those Just Few who stand for the sake of others, who follow the path of the sun to its end and come to the mountaintop singing." Amen.
Jess Anderson, Isthmus

Contemporary music of the highest quality. Especially impressive was Wallace's powerful and imaginative orchestration that made wonderfully effective use of intriguing combinations of musical instruments and even recorded sounds. A Kaddish is a prayer of mourning. In Wallace's work, it is a sometimes monumental and always affecting memorial to Harvey Milk. A thrilling musical experience.
John Ashl, Wisconsin State Journal

Harvey Milk's memory was powerfully served in the premiere of Stewart Wallace's requiem. The 30 minutes of Kaddish flew by, as sonically fascinating as it was emotionally involving. Here one sensed an entire stricken community, and the ugly wound opened in a great social struggle.
